When your favorite author;s books are turned into movies, does it bother you when the movie strays too far from the original story?

Yes it does.

I don't enjoy the movie because I'm comparing it to what really happened in the book.

Same here. I really love Stephen King's books, but hate his movies. I didn't care for how they changed things up in the last couple of Harry Potter movies either.

My biggest disappointment lately was Lee Childs books. His main character is over 6 ft tall and big. They cast Tom Cruise !

Oh dear. Just like one of my favorites, the main character was a dark haired Italian, and they cast a blue eyes Irishman.

Sometimes yes.  Other times I'm so immersed in the movie and also impressed by the brillance of the film maker's editing.  Editing is an art unto itself.

My friend kept smacking my arm when we went to see one of the Harry Potter movies. I kept saying, maybe a little too loud, THAT WASN'T IN THE BOOK!! A few others were saying that too,, so I didn't feel that bad.
