Beyonce has presented her fans to a new alter-ego named Sasha Fierce. The singer affirms that this new persona is the fun, more sexual and more aggressive side of her. This is however the PC version of the story. The esoteric meaning revealed by the symbols surrounding this new persona is much deeper: Sasha Fierce is a symbolic representation of an artist taken over by evil to obtain success.
"I have someone else that takes over when it’s time for me to work and when I’m on stage, this alter ego that I’ve created that kind of protects me and who I really am”.
-Beyonce
In many reports, Sasha Fierce has been referred to as evil but it is the evil that lies in each person, representing the struggles we all face daily in our lives. Most of us choose not to acknowledge our alternate personas or our suppressed behaviors as it where. This is far more destructive than exploring that persona and figuring out how to integrate them both into your life, leaving behind what doesn’t work from both.
Many performers choose to use alter egos as a stage persona but most of them do this up front instead of later in their careers. They also rarely acknowledge they are anyone but the public persona they portray. This is a defense mechanism that is employed by stars and even those in the workplace.
Public view makes these actions more readily viewable whereas the average person can slip by unnoticed in their duality. I know I have a evil twin, it’s who we all blame for the rotten crap we do but in actuality, it’s just us, and we would be better off facing that and moving on. Kicking that dual you to the curb or integrating it into you, comes with maturity. While we say it’s the alter ego that is evil, it is in actuality the person themselves, in denial about who they really are.
