"I Got Rhythm" was written by George and Ira Gershwin became a jazz standard after its being performed by Ethel Merman in the stage musical Girl Crazy (1930), but originally appeared as a slower arrangement in the 1928 musical Treasure Girl. It was also sung by Judy Garland in the 1943 film version of Girl Crazy, and by Gene Kelly in th 1951 musical An American in Paris.
