James David Maslow was born in New York City on 16th July 1990. James is an American singer, actor and dancer and plays the piano, guitar and drums. He is best known for his role as James Diamond in 'Big Time Rush', a pop singing boy group in America that was formed back in 2009. There are four members of the group, all on vocals - Logan Henderson, Carlos Pena Jr., and Kendall Schmidt.
Nickelodeon casted for Big Time Rush in 2007. James sent his auditioning tape and got the role as James Diamond. He has recorded some songs with his band mates including 'Big Time Rush', 'Stuck', 'Famous', 'Halfway There', 'City is Ours', 'Shot in the Dark', and 'Any Kind of Guy'. An album was released on 11th October 2010 that was entitled 'B.T.R.' and sold 67,000 copies within the first week. It was certified Gold in April 2011.
James began to train as a singer when he was six years old in the San Diego Children's Choir. James also attended 'Torrey Pines' and 'La Jolla' elementary schools, the 'Muirlands' Middle School, and then the 'San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts'. He had a minor role in 'La Boheme' with the 'San Diego Opera' at the age of ten. He also attended the 'La Jolla Playhouse', had his first agent at the age of 14 and subsequently performed in 'Les Miserables'. James started attending 'The Coronado School of the Arts' when he was in 10th grade, and graduated from here in 2007 in their musical theater department.
There is a scar on James' elbow that he got when he was doing a hockey related stunt during the first episode of the popular sitcom Big Time Rush.
