Pamela Denise Anderson came into the world on July 1, 1967 to parents Barry and Carol (nee Grosco). Her father was a furnace repair man and her mother was a waitress.
Pamela (or Pammy as many of her numerous fans like to call her) has a mixed cultural heritage. Her great grandfather was called Juho Hyytiainen, a Finnish man who quit the Grand Duchy of Finland in 1908, which at the time was associated with the Russian Empire for the US. His name subsequently changed from Hyytianinen to Anderson.
There is also some Russian background on Pamela's mother's side, too.
Pamela Anderson began her career as a gym specialist in 1985 in Vancouver. In 1989 she attended a BC Lions match with some friends and was displayed on the stadium's boards. The crowd began to cheer her and she was taken onto the field where she received a standing ovation.
Her boyfriend, photographer, Dan Ilicic was responsible for many photos of Pamela including famous Blue Zone Girl posters, and in October of that year she appeared on the front cover of Playboy magazine.
Pamela moved to Los Angeles so continuing her modeling career would be possible, and became Playboy's centerfold in 1990 when she was chosen as the month's best Playmate. It was at this point that she decided to receive breast enhancements.
Although Pamela has made many more appearances in Playboy, she also turned her hand to acting and has had many parts, including a very successful run in 'Baywatch' with David Hasselhoff.
More recently she has appeared for three days in Australia's celebrity Big Brother and then went on to create her own reality TV show, 'Pam: Girl on the Loose'.
