Originally, there were seven Raggy Dolls. They were Sad Sack (who had lots of stuffing), Princess (who wore rags), Lucy (who had loose threads and limbs), Hi-Fi (who stammered), Dotty (who was covered in blue paint), Claude (who was made for France but didn't get there) and Back-To-Front (whose head was the wrong way round). However, due to the show being revamped after 13 episodes, a new doll was introduced, by the name of Ragamuffin.

The Raggy Dolls lived in a reject bin (due to their faults) in a factory originally, but moved into the house of the factory's owner after he got married. The Raggy Dolls were different from the other dolls in that they would come to life when no one was looking and their faults actually came in handy.

After the show was revamped and Ragamuffin was included, the show ran on for 65 episodes. The show ran from 1987 to 1989.
