He awoke in the middle of the night to use the bathroom (due to history drug use and weight problem, he couldnt control his bladder and bowls) . While on the toilet he vomited and was said to crawl a few inches away from the toilet and soon died in his own throw up. After a couple of hours, his fiencee (Ginger) found him on the bathroom floor. Staff called the paramedics and Elvis was rushed to the hospital where he was officially pronounced dead. The coroner recorded the cause of death as cardiac arrhythmia. While true in the strictest sense (cardiac arrhythmia basically means that the heart was beating irregularly and in this case, finally stopped), the attending physicians deliberately omitted the fact that what had apparently caused Elvis' heart to beat irregularly and then stop was an overdose of prescription drugs. In the book Elvis Biography by Jerry Hopkins one of his bodyguards writes on pg 379 Elvis was in his blue pajamas and could not sleep so he went into the bathroom helped himself to his so called personal pharmacy sat in a big cushion chair and read his book then his chin dropped to his chest, the big body slumped imperceptibly, then shifted and toppled out of the big cushion chair, the noise of the fall muffled by the thick brown shag carpeting.... In his book Careless Love, Peter Guralnick wrote that Elvis Presley died of a drug overdose- since he had no history of heart ailment. He took 2 many drugs and they found him dead on a toilet. I think. I know he died of drugs but I'm not sure if the toilet part is true or if it's a myth.
Well the basic cause was a cardiac arrest due to cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heatbeat, like when it just stops or the blood can't get around due to arterial clogs). This happened mostly because of his incredibly clogged arteries, obesity and the cocktail of (legally prescribed) drugs that he was taking.
The more debateable questions have been about the circumstances. Especially as it is widely reputed that Elvis was found dead on the toilet. Some sources imply that Elvis was also on a mix of illegal drugs. Some sources say he was naked, others that he was wearing a dressing gown. Newspapers at the time reported that he was wearing light blue pajamas, Some sources describe a pool of vomit. Everyone agrees that he was in or near the bathroom at the time of death, but whether he was using the facilities, isn't clear. He was initially found by his fiancee, Ginger Alden, at 2pm, some sources say he was then unconscious, some say he had already been dead for a few hours.
You may never get a completely straight story, though. We can imagine that Elvis was found in one place in one condition but out of respect his body was moved, cleaned or covered up. So even the official coroner's report cannot tell all.
We think that elivs died because the doctors gave him too many diffrent medacations and he over dose them and think he had a stroke and died in his own vomit! EWWWW
Elvis presley died because he had an over dose of his medication that his doctor prscribed him with. He got addicted to them and the next minute his daughter came in and saw her dad died on the bathroom floor with the bottle of meds. Empty......
