Music seems to a product of culture, but in some cases, culture might be a product of music. Culture and music seem to be interdependent, shaping and moulding each other.
An example of how music affected culture:
In the '60s, the Beatles skyrocketed to fame and they had an enormous impact on culture.
The album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band not only impacted the way people dressed, but it shaped how people wore their hair, how they spoke and even how they voted.
It was on this album that the group sported a fairly prominent moustache and it wasn’t long before this trend blew up throughout the world. The mod youth within England adopted the dress choices the Beatles sported earlier on in their careers.
Musicians have always been at the forefront of cultural revolutions. In the flower power era, music was able to become the voice of the people, calling for peace and love – calling for revolution.
The Beatles were more than just musicians – they were leaders and their army was made up by their fans.
