Adrian Veidt also known as Ozymandias confesses to Killing the Comedian in the last issue of Watchmen. The Comedian had discovered Ozymandias plot to avert nuclear war between Russia and America by faking an alien attack on New York, thus creating a common enemy and uniting the two nations. Ozymandias murders him to make sure his plot never becomes public.
