The line "you're my lover, not my rival" is speaking of a secret relationship between two of the band members. It is talking about the stress of having both a professional/business relationship and a personal/private relationship that would eventually take a toll on the two as well as the band as a whole. Best of luck to you, my friend!

First of all, I agree with what Corey had mentioned about the secret relationship between two of the band members. My interpretation of " Everyday is like survival" to me, relates to the survival of their relationship and having to fight for it. When he says, "You're my lover, not my rival"  he is questioning his partner as to why do you fight with me when you're supposed to love me.
