I had the misfortune of seeing it in theatres when it was released and about 3 years later in another movie theatre. Over the last 15 years I have watched it again, on video and when the new footage was released. The movie in the last 15 years is not the same movie I saw as a teen. Even the uncut version is not the same. It was indeed cut. There are some key scenes in the movie that were cut. Why? I don't know. I had heard that there were subliminal images that because are illegal were removed. All I know is the movie of my teens scared me in a way I haven't been scared since. I can remember those deleted scenes like they were yesterday. The versions of now are not nearly as scary. I love all scary movies, nothing has ever scared me like that.
