Magic works. If a kid believes in Santa he'll certainly believe in magic.

When I was about 6 or 7, we moved into a new house without a chimney and my parents told me that they just left the front door unlocked for Santa.

Like in The Santa Clause with Tim Allen; one just "appears" so he can come into the house

We told our kids if we were still awake and heard him then we would open the door for him. (That explained why if they heard wrapping still to stay in bed cuz Santa wouldn't come unless they were asleep and mommy and daddy wasn't gonna be able to stay up all night waiting to open the door for him.) Or sometimes we said we left a key under the mat for him and he will get in with the key.
