The fifth X-Men film was released in 2011 called 'X-Men: First Class'. Directed by Matthew Vaughan and produced by Bryan Singer, the film is set as a prequel to the original X-Men films and takes place during the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis. The plot is focussed on the relationship between Magneto and Charles Xavier and the beginnings of their groups the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants.

The leading characters of the film, Charles Xavier and Magneto are played by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender respectively. Kevin Bacon plays Sebastian Shaw, Jennifer Lawrence is Mystique, January Jones is Emma Frost and Rose Byrne is Moira MacTaggert. Other members of the cast include; Nicholas Hoult, Oliver Platt, Ray Wise, Zoe Kravitz and Caleb Laundry Jones.
The fifth X-Men film has been and gone but there is still more on the horizon. The Wolverine is set to be released in 2012 alongside a Deadpool spin off and possible sequels to X-Men: First Class.
