The fifth X-Men film was released in 2011 called 'X-Men: First Class'. Directed by Matthew Vaughan and produced by Bryan Singer, the film is set as a prequel to the original X-Men films and takes place during the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis. The plot is focussed on the relationship between Magneto and Charles Xavier and the beginnings of their groups the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants.

  • Cast.
The leading characters of the film, Charles Xavier and Magneto are played by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender respectively. Kevin Bacon plays Sebastian Shaw, Jennifer Lawrence is Mystique, January Jones is Emma Frost and Rose Byrne is Moira MacTaggert. Other members of the cast include; Nicholas Hoult, Oliver Platt, Ray Wise, Zoe Kravitz and Caleb Laundry Jones.
  • Plot.
The film begins at a German concentration camp in Poland in 1944. It shows the beginnings of Magneto discovering his magnetic powers when his mother is killed. Across in New York, we see Charles Xavier meeting another mutant who shares his powers. The story follows the mutants separate lives until they meet in a battle to stop Magneto from killing the man who murdered his mother. The two then work together to fight against the use of the Cuban nuclear missiles.
  • Response.
Released in June 2011, the film gained a mixture of critical response. It was not as successful at the box office as some of its predecessors but still made a bigger profit than the original film. It received a majority of positive reviews including an 86% rating on the Rotten Tomatoes website. Other reviewers argued it was too fast and the characters did not have a chance to develop.

The fifth X-Men film has been and gone but there is still more on the horizon. The Wolverine is set to be released in 2012 alongside a Deadpool spin off and possible sequels to X-Men: First Class.

Yesss! We all know Xavier is still alive and Magneto has regained his powers.. But also in the end of Wolverines solo movie, at the very very end..like after the credits, the guy that got his head cut off, it shows that he is still alive. So I believe there is to many loose ends to NOT make another movie.

Yes there will be one (everybody thinks Magneto is mortal) He moves the metal chess piece
just a little bit. My cousin says that the Professor isn't dead. If you look at the part when Jean kills him, his body and clothes get blown out of the window.

So you think that if his ashes fly out of the window then that means that he is still alive?
But how could he survive that?
He got blown to nothing.... To bits of..... Dust.....
I don't know maybe he survived being cremated.... But Xavier is a normal mortal.....

I think there may well be. If you watch closely at the end of The Last Stand, Magneto (who is now supposedly human) moves a metal chess piece without touching it. Referring to Heroes where Silar had lost his powers and then in the next series (Villians) he moved a tin can with his hand. He could only do this because he was so powerful and so determind. I think Magneto may be the same. And there have been rumours for a Magneto Origins film. If there was a Magneto Origins film it could be making way for another X-men movie. And if there is another one it may go something like this:- Magneto regains his powers. He is alone in the world but is thought to be a human. He gathers an army of supervillians and there is another war between him and the X-men. Or he may imply work alone and try and eliminate the X-men one by one until they stop him. Just a thought.

I think there is going to be and it should be an x-men 5. Charles Xavier isn´t dead because after the credits in X3 is short scene when the crippled man starts talking to Moira MacTaggart and she says quietly ,,Charles?"

Yes there is going to be more X-men Movies. FOX Reserved the rights to X-men when Disney bought out Marvel. The only reason they held onto a Muti-million dollar movie deal is because they knew they were going to make more movies.
