Songs can be interpreted in different ways and listeners can find whatever meaning they want in the lyrics. When it comes to Beyoncé's song 'Halo', most fans agree that it is about a woman who has found her soul mate.

The opening lyrics of the song suggest this is a woman who has been hurt in the past by previous lovers and as a result she has built up a defense mechanism and barriers to prevent her from falling in love and getting hurt again:

"Remember those walls I built
Well, baby they're tumbling down
And they didn't even put up a fight
They didn't even make up a sound"

As the walls are 'tumbling down' this means she is falling in love with this new man and is willing to give him and her happiness a chance. The lyrics suggest that she is finding falling in love with this man easily, claiming it is like he has come from heaven as an angel for her. That is why she says: "I can see your halo." He makes her feel special and treats her in a way that she is learning to trust and love again.

The walls that are being broken down are her insecurities and fears about getting hurt, but the light from the man's halo is helping her see the potential for love and happiness:

"I found a way to let you in
But I never really had a doubt
Standing in the light of your halo
I got my angel now."

If you all were true Christian you would not come out of your mouth and say She speaking about God. Read your Bibles, study it and ask God to show you what this song mean. Better yet find someone who can play it backwards for you and it sing hale to Satan. Learn your facts About the spiritual world before you speak on it.

The song has to do with her spiritual life with God in her childhood which was well built (Remember those walls I built as she said) and which later tumbled down without a fight or sound. Beyonce is a Satanist and she dedicated the rest of the song to Satan like; ''I got my angel now (She's refering to Satan) ''It's like I've been awakened'' (Awakened by Satan) It's a risk that I'm taking'' (Taking a risk for Satan)
''I swore I'll never fall again'' (She has sworn to Satan not to fall again). This song is dedicated to satan who gave her wealth, fame and power.

Everyone is wrong. This is Pagan worship. The Halo is not a heavenly symbol, but a symbol of sun worship. Look it up. A lot of artist on her level are joining masonic cults, including JZ. Who throws up the Pyramid. He's masonic and their songs are blatant masonic sybolism.Look it up if this is too left field for you.

Did you all see the video?
The video is very suggestive that the song is, indeed, a partner who has taught her to open up.  The words suggest that she has had trouble with trust in her past relationships, and the person whom she is singing about has allowed her to trust again.
"Halo", though I think is referring to a death in some way. This partner, her savior, who she speaks of, I think has passed away and remains in her life, watching over her.  Based on some fans' comments about her starting in a church choir- I'm assuming Beyoncé is religious to some extent and believing in angels is not too far off.  This partner is has gone, but remains an angel.
In the video, I really get this idea.  Beyoncé and this man are constantly in each other's company.  She feels him, they touch- but I think it is representative of her feeling his presence.  In the scene where she is dancing in the studio, he is standing on a balcony, watching her.  She doesn't really see him- again, it's like he is an angel watching over her.
At the end, there is this face-to-face encounter between them, again suggesting that they are in each other's presence.  Although it seems like they might kiss, they never do. Because a kiss is so intimate and real, she can not experience it with her angel.  She can only feel his presence and almost have that intimacy.
"Everywhere I'm looking now, I'm surrounded by your embrace."
This song is a "thank you" note dedicated to an important lover who has passed and remains as a spiritual/symbolic presence in her life.  The tiny complication and sadness that lingers, however, is that they are never physically together, and she is having a difficult time letting go.
The beauty that comes from this music and video, though, is that love and appreciation can be shown through a spiritual, emotional connection, even without the physical one.
This video gives hope and a beautiful perspective to those who have lost a lover.
I hope, one day, everyone can experience that kind of love- love that is rooted in consciousness.

The meaning of this song is that at first her history of a bad relationships left her without wanting to fall in love again. So for that reason she build walls around her so no one could go through. But then this guy who was an angel loved her so much that those walls fell AND SHE FELL IN LOVE WITH HIM. Hes the perfect man for her. Hes her angel(halo)

After reading all what you have written I think this song might be interpreted in many ways.firstly her relationship with God secondly with guys and of course her relationship with the devil's incarnate. So we really   need to look at    this.after all I believe it is her relationship with her guy.

I believe its about a  guy she falls in love with, and has loved for a long time. She builds these walls up around her, as she has been hurt before, and there is something stopping them from being together.
She decides to take a chance, she sees is halo because she loves so much. She is obviously taking a risk, and he is breaking the rules...... There are deep meanings to this song, its so sad

I think shes talking about a guy and GOD she "built a wall" when she started sing and shut GOD and guys out her life without even knowing what she was doing so "now that she let them in shell never shut them out" hence they are two main factors that are to important to lose.

Folks what I think of is, she never wanted to be in a relationship with any one.She had isolated her from falling in love. But, here she met  a guy, for whom she is breaking all the rules , the walls she built is falling but she can't help as she has got this guy with whom she is madly in love.He is like an angel to her.

The meaning of halo is that she has got an angel and it is too hard for her to let the angel enter her life.!! I think! Don't quote me?!

I agree it's a religious thing for sure, it's open to interpretation and that's why music is great, but I believe she's singing to her spiritual Angel, that links her to God.

I believe it is somewhat about being in love and spiritually. And something happened to him and he left this world. She loved him a lot.

Beyonce didn't actually write this song... It was originally written for Leona Lewis. But I like to listen to this song in reference to God, because if you think of the lyrics in a God-related way, you can totally worship to this song!

How can you come out of your mouth and say it is a worship song. You need to repent for what you just said.

This music is definitively about her relationship with GOD. Like others, I thought it was about a "perfect" person she found, but after read some answers above, I've listened to the music and read the lyrics again. Some points that can enforce it:Remember those WALLS builtWell, baby they're tumbling down// Here, like other said, she's telling about the distance (walls) from God that she "built" through the time she got famousI found a way to let you inBut I never really had a DOUBTStanding in the LIGHT of your haloI got my angel now// DOUBT: People don't distance from God because they have doubts, but because they are living in sin. // LIGHT: This word is commonly used to mention Jesus Christ and stuff. "I'm the light of the world", Jesus said. It's like I've been AWAKENEDEVERYWHERE I'm looking nowI'm surrounded by your EMBRACE// Here is an important point that shows that it's not a song about someone, because no-one can be everywhere, only God is omnipresent. You're everything I need and more// The Bible says that God is all that we need, so this is clear. It's written all over your faceBaby I can feel your haloPray it won't fade away// Now that she can see His Glory, she prays to persist on it.Hit me like a ray of sunBurning through my darkest nightYou're the only one that I wantThink I'm addicted to your light// People are in sin live in the darkness. Again, Jesus is the light.I swore I'd never fall againBut this don't even feel like fallingGravity can't forgetTo pull me back to the ground again// "Fall" means "to commit sin and distance from God". And gravity here I understand like the world that pull her back to sin when she is with God.So, what do you think??Sorry for my English. I'm Brazilian and I tried my best! :-)

Folks, I think she's talking about her spiritual relationship with GOD. She started her singing career as a soloist at her church choir. For whatever reason, her rise to fame caused her to distance herself from GOD - she built walls. She's rediscovered her spirituality and is now using her fame to do philanthropic work - "I found a way to let you in" and "It's like I've been awakened". For example, she had food drives at her most recent concerts. She feels GOD's halo everywhere she looks and prays the feeling won't fade away. She's had a spiritual awakening. Anyone else think this might be possible?

I agree with the last post in terms of being a song about God. I think can be a song sung from the perspective of Mary after being visited by the angel Gabriel. She can be thinking about Jesus "Baby I can feel your halo". Also, the rule she was "breaking" were the societal expectations for women not to bear a child out of marriage. Finally, she is declaring her love for baby Jesus by stating "she ain't never going to shut you out". Thoughts?

This song means after all the men she has been with she finally found the love of her life she can see, feel, that this one is her angel the one god has planned for her, therefore she can let her walls down cause nothing can take this love away

The meaning of the song is that she had experienced heart braek in relationship and so decided to shut off anything concerning relationship,as she mentioned in the begining of the song that she built walls. But however when she made this guy,she had to break every rule. She said she has seen her angel. And she goes on to sing that she has seen the guy's halo ie she has seen the real light. She prays that it wont fade away.

This song is about how she regrets her past relationship and swears to never fall in love again. But as they say, love ain't an invitation, she falls in love again with a guy. She sees the walls of hate and regret she built around herself falling when this new guy, probably an angel from her point of view, enters her life. So, referring this guy to an angel, she says that she can see his halo (the ring above an angel's head).

You're all wrong...
"remeber those walls I built, well baby they're tumbling down"- the walls she built was the relationship she built with this guy, they haven't been as close lately and she feels that they're drifting apart- "well baby they're tumbling down"
"And they didn't even put up a fight, they didn't even make a sound"- he didn't even try to make it better/ fix the relationship, infact he didnt even say anything at all which shows her that he doesnt really care about their relationship together.

Everyone is wrong about this song. This song is about being really really hurt by someone and writing them off, and having them come back. "remember those walls I built" - hence the person was there before. And also "every rule I had you breakin'' is referring to her being hurt by someone, deciding that to get over them, she had to stand up for herself - and then he comes back and breaks them and she "aint never going to shut him out". Kind of like a Big and Carrie thing. This song is perfect for Carrie to sing.
