Selena gomez auditioned for barney at 7 or 9 and got the role people saw her as Gianna on Barney and a couple of years later she got a role in spy kids 3 as waterpark girl and disney contractors obviously thought she was good and when they created wizards of waverly place the role was originally given to alexa nikolas (nicole from zoey 101) but selena got offered it after her and took it and thats how she got on disney channel
