Selena was born Selena Marie Gomez on 22nd July 1992 in Grand Prairie, Texas. Her parents were former stage actress Mandy Teefey (nee Cornett) and Ricardo Joel Gomez.
Selena began her career at the age of seven, appearing as Gianna on Barney & Friends. She went on to have minor roles in Spy Kids 3D: Game Over and Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire, before starring in the TV movie Brain Zapped.
Selena was discovered by the Disney Channel in 2004 and appeared as a guest star on The Suite Life of Zack and Code. A recurring role on Hannah Montana then resulted from a guest appearance. She was cast as Alex Rosso in Wizards of Waverly Place in 2007, the role for which she is best known. Her first theatrical film, Ramona & Beezus, premiered on 23rd July 2010.
Selena’s career has expanded into the music industry and she is the founder and lead singer of Selena Gomez & the Scene. The band is signed to the Hollywood label and has released
