Cody Simpson is a 14-year-old pop singer from Queensland in Australia. Swimming is another one of his talents. This was shown in the Queensland Swimming Championships as he won two gold medals, and he also trained under Ken Nixon at the Miami Swimming Club.
Cody Simpson began his career recording songs such as "Cry me a River" and "Señorita" by Justin Timberlake, "I'm Yours" as performed by Jason Mraz, "I Want You Back" by the well-known Jackson 5 and some of his own songs such as "Perfect" and "One" and then posted them on YouTube. Shawn Campbell, a producer who had previously worked for many artists, including Jay-Z, discovered these performances.
After being signed to the U.S record label Atlantic, Cody Simpson's first single, "iYiYi" was released, featuring the well-known rapper and performer Flo Rida on 15th May 2010. In June 2010, Simpson then moved to Los Angeles to record with Atlantic Records. It was then that Simpson made an appearance on the Australian breakfast television program, Sunrise.
Simpson participated in his first public tour from 5th July 2010 to 14th August 2010 in the United States with other artists, which was the Camplified Tour. During this tour he told the Popstar Magazine that a girl he'd previously known at his time spent in his hometown inspired him and so he performed the song, "Love So Strong".
On 4th December 2010, an Extended Play, entitled "4 U", was revealed on Simpson's official website and was to be released on iTunes on 21st December 2010. The Extended Play includes 5 tracks, 4 of which were previously unreleased. Simpson recorded his own interpretation of the well-known song "I Want Candy" made famous by the Strangeloves. This was intended as the main theme song for the film "Hop".
Simpson released his single, "On My Mind", on April 23rd 2011, via his official website, which made its way to iTunes on 23rd May 2011, and the music video released on 17th June 2011.
Simpson is now making progress towards a new album from Atlantic records.
