Visiting as many music venues that suit your style of music, parties where people in the music industry may be and even the offices of record labels is a great way to get to know people within the industry and thus improve your chances of being found. The key to success is hard work and commitment, if you truly dedicate yourself and push your name out into the market and have the talent, you give yourself the best chance of being discovered.
