The film Lolita made in the year 1962 by Stanley Kubrick is based on a novel of the same name. The movie was close to the book but could not be filmed exactly as the novel because of MPAA's (Censor Board) restriction. The film toned down the vicious aspects of the book.
Although Kubrick was an acclaimed director of that time, the movie was said to be highly unbalanced. There are many differences between the book and the movie. Many unambiguous parts of the book were dropped from the movie due to strict censor rules. Also many events from the novel do not exactly match the events in the movie.
Kubrick the director of the film later commented that had he known that the Censor board would have put so many restrictions on the movie he would have never made it.
