Depeche Mode the popular British Synth pop band formed in 1980 and comprising of David Gahan, Martin Gore and Andrew Fletcher is one of the longest continuing groups in the world of music. Their popularity has been highlighted by the fact that in the last 26 years they have sold as many as 73 million albums worldwide; they are especially popular in the UK, the US, Germany and Australia.
The band's first album Speak and Spell that was released in 1981 was well acclaimed and established their reputation in the then new genre of Synth pop. Their main albums in the early part of their formation were A Broken Frame released in 1982, Construction Time Again (1983) and Some Great Reward (1984).
After 1985 the band started gaining popularity outside Europe and their releases like Catching Up with Depeche Mode, Black Celebration and Music for the Masses which became immensely popular in the US.
