That's a good question, but really, they're not similar at all.
I'm a fairly good typist, I don't need to look at my fingers while I type, and I play the piano also.
It may be a similar finger motion, but playing the piano is a lot more complicated.  In fact, the finger motion isn't really all that similar.

There are some similarities: In reading sheet music you'll have developed a habit of reading a bar or two (or more!) ahead. Touch typing involves reading ahead, but it's not as important.

The questions isn't very clear though: Playing the piano and typing on the keyboard aren't the same. The technique differs significantly.

Typing uses finger articulation. That is, fingers move individually to strike the keys. The arm isn't involved in the motion and the hand is only slightly involved.

On the piano, finger articulation is a technical dead end.
Trills are a particularly easy way to see the issue. Playing a long trill using finger articulation, keeping the hand still will wear you out very quickly. Letting the rocking of the hand and arm articulate the trill instead (with fingers mostly still) is much more effective.

It isn't really that similar. Playing the piano or keyboard is playing the notes that are being read on the music sheet.
