Scooby-Doo, the longest-running TV cartoon in the past. It was launched in 1969. The series was created for Hanna-Barbera Productions which was later absorbed by Warner Bros.
The characters and the plots were written by Ken Spears and Joe Ruby. The show was originally meant to be about four teenage detectives who along with their Great Dane traveled throughout the country in a van. Their main aim was to solve mysteries in dangerous situations. The Dane was not a prominent character. However, the artwork was quite frightening and so the show was rejected. However an ingenious twist saved the show and they resold the idea. This time they decided to keep the Dane as the prominent character. It was immediately loved and it went on to become one of the greatest animations of all times.
Today, Scooby-Doo features Scooby-Doo along with his four teenage friends. Scooby is the cowardly dog and the unintentional hero of day. His partner Shaggy is equally cowardly (not to mention forever-hungry!!). Freddy creates amazing traps that never work, Velma is the brains in the group and Daphne is just meant to look pretty.
