There can be many reasons why a person wishes to get dreadlocks, it could be a fashion statement or for spiritual reasons. If you wish to turn your hair into dreadlocks then you must remember to be patient as it could take months or even a full year for your hair to turn into proper dreadlocks.
Things you will need:
- 1 quarter of tap water.
- 1 tablespoon of vinegar.
- Beeswax.
- Fine toothed comb.
- Small rubber bands.
Instructions:
- Mix the quarter of tap water and tablespoon of vinegar together. Then rinse your hair with this solution on the day that you want to start making dreadlocks. This will get rid of any build up or residue that may affect the dreading process. After this, let your hair dry naturally.
- Once your hair has completely dried. Select a portion of your hair, about one inch square and pull the rest of your hair back and out of the way.
- Twist the section of your hair tightly. Using the fine toothed comb, back comb that section of hair, starting at the root and moving down to the ends and then back up again.
- Apply a small amount of beeswax or dreadlock styling wax and then re-twist it. The wax helps to keep each lock of hair tightly twisted.
- Secure the end of the new dreadlock with a rubber band.
- Complete the entire process for all of your hair. You may be able to do it in one sitting if you have the time.
