Knight Rider was the name of a famous American TV program which was telecast from the 26th of September in the year 1982, terminating on the 8th of August in the year 1986.

The series was telecast on NBC and had David Hasselhoff in the lead role as Michael Knight, a sort of a contemporary knight who drove a technologically advanced smart car.

In the first episode, a police officer is shown to be shot and gravely scarred on the face, is announced as deceased to the public with his medical care responsibilities being taken over by FLAG, the Foundation for Law and Government. This episode is titled as the Knight of the Phoenix, in reference to Michael's car which is a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, also called as the KITT, Knight Industries Two Thousand.
