I've been trying to find out. Turns out the instrument is fictional; they just added in the sounds of other instruments. The "duduk" is the one with the melody. However, it's single-chambered and only produces one tone, not two. It'd be cool to invent such an instrument, though,

It's not called a pan flute. That instrument has many pipes put together. Peter Pan plays that "pan Pipe" not Mr. Tumnus. It might be some type of irish whistle, but all that seems to come up are those tin, or penny, whistles. If anybody knows the answer please spill those beans cause it's driving me crazy not knowing. >:(

The instrument looks and produces a sound of what is known about a greek aulos. If you want to learn to play this, sorry, but this instrument is mostly extinct, even though some have attempted to reproduce it. An aulos looks like two simple oboes, but is not connected like in the movie. The sound from the movie is somewhat would be expected from two instruments played by one person, where one is considered a changeable drone and the other half plays the melody (much like a bagpipe). The tune in the movie was produced by combining some form of drone with an armenian duduk for the melody.

I think its a version of a "Y double whistle", though these seem to not have fingering holes and are meant to be played by putting your hands over the openings and choosing how much air to let through . I suppose you could drill      holes in one though.

Look up Native American flutes. They may not be the exact sound but they are the closest thin I've found. They have double neck and triple neck flutes so you can play a constant tone and a melody at the same time making it sound like two or even three people are playing.

I thought that Mr Tumnus, being a faun, played the pan pipes. But perhaps I am wrong.
