• Lady Gaga
Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, also known as Lady Gaga was born in New York City in March 1986. She is the eldest child of Italian American, Joseph and his wife, Cynthia.
At the age of four, Lady Gaga started to learn how to play the piano and at the tender young age of 13 she wrote her first piano ballad. Shortly after this she began to perform at open mic nights.
• School
Lady Gaga attended the private, all girls Roman Catholic school, the Convent of the Sacred Heart, which obviously cost money, but Lady Gaga is adamant that she comes from a working class background and her parents had to work really hard to educate her and her sister, Natali, who is six years younger.
Although she was an excellent student who worked hard, singing was always her passion, and Lady Gaga always felt that she didn't fit in at school; a statement that has been denied up by fellow pupils who say that she was popular.
Lady Gaga enjoyed taking part in school plays and musicals and in 2001 landed a small part in an episode of 'The Sopranos'. When she was 16, she began to sing in front of live audiences, and auditioned for parts in New York shows, for which she was unsuccessful.
With her mother's encouragement, Lady Gaga got an early place, at the age of 17, to the Tisch School of the Arts, where she lived in a NYU dorm on 11th Street.
