The song ’One Pair of Hands’ appears to have been sung originally by Elvis Presley.

Having said this, there appears to have been some sort of controversy over this. It appears that the song ’One Pair of Hands’ has some conspiracy theories surrounding it. This is because some people seem to believe that it is not Elvis Presley singing the song, but someone that sounds like him at first.

This song has also been covered by several people over the years, including Monica Dickens.

The lyrics for one pair of hands are as follows:

One pair of hands formed the mountains,
One pair of hands formed the sea
And one pair of hands made the sun and the moon,
Every bird, every flower, every tree
One pair of hands formed the valleys,
The ocean, the rivers and the sand
Those hands are so strong, so when life goes wrong
Put your faith in the one pair of hands

One pair of hands, healed the sick,
One pair of hands raised the dead
One pair of hands calmed the ragging storm
And thousands of people WERE FED
One pair of hands said I love you
And those hands were nailed to a tree
Those hands are so strong, so when life goes wrong
Put your faith into one pair of hands

[music]

Those hands are so strong, so when life goes wrong
Put your faith into one pair of hands
Put your faith into one pair of hands

This is a religious song, with the one pair of hands clearly referring to God. Several people have covered this song, in several genres of music, including Country and Western and laid back rock. It seems to be a very popular song.

No, but he should have. Only, Elvis would be able to do this song justice

Carroll Roberson wrote and recorded One Pair of Hands. Elvis Presley's discography does not list this as ever being recorded by Elvis. I have heard several recordings attributed to Elvis. They were either Carroll Roberson or someone imitating Elvis. Though they sounded pretty good, they were not Elvis. I believe Roberson has a great voice and don't think Elvis could have done any better.

Carroll Roberson not Elvis sang the song. Still waiting to find out whether Elvis ever did it to show the difference since a true "Elvis" fan would know the difference

No, Carroll Roberson, and some have said it is Elvis, but it isn't.  I don't even think it sounds like him, but that is because I love THE KING and would know his voice anywhere. I think it sounds more like Marty Robbins.

I have three of Elvis's gospel CD's, and I would have sworn that was elvis that sang "One Pair of Hands", in fact it is hard to believe he did not sing it.

It's definitely not Elvis singing this song, I don't find it even sounds like him! There's a clip on YouTube that says it's by Carroll Roberson which sounds more likely to me....

Billie Campbell and Manny Kurtz wrote the song. Sheet music is available at musicnotes.com for a price (I have it) and it is NOT Elvis singing on YouTube. It is Roberson.

Glen Campbell sang it first in 1970, but there are tons of misinformation about the Carroll Roberson version being Elvis, it is NOT Elvis.

Definitely sung by Carroll Robinson! (from his CD, 'Gospel Favorites'). Here is the you tube of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpK6lNfrJDw

Check out Carroll Robinson Ministries Website: http://www.carrollroberson.com/    He has well over 200 recordings on 23 or more CD's.  Southern Gospel type music with his wife very ofter as backup.  He actually recorded a CD with the Jordanaires as backup singers (used by Elvis).

Here are two other "Elvis" sounding by sung by Carroll!!

It's obviously not Elvis if you open your ears and listen. It's fairly close, but not Elvis.

There's a lot about this vocalization that sounds like Marty Robbins. Whoever is singing it, it's absolutely beautiful.

Caroll WHO?  And it isn't Elvis AND he uses most of the Melody from an old Marti Robbins tune: My Woman, my woman my wife.  Kind of ripping off someone elses music I'd say.

Glen Campbell released this in 1970, same year that Marty released that song. They do sound similar but doubt it's a ripoff.
