This song, which is actually titled 'On the Ocean', was originally featured on an album called 'Ballroom Explosion', released in 2007. It was this track that, when released as a single, proved to be the artist's greatest success to date and led to a deal with the major label of Universal Republic. After being released nationally, 'On the Ocean' shot up in popularity and by April 2009 reached the Top 40 of the Hot R&B and Hip Hop Billboard song charts.
The name of this artist is, of course, K'Jon. Having started singing at the tender age of eight, the young singer-songwriter based in Detroit first gained exposure on the airwaves in 2001, when a few local R&B stations played his single 'My Shorty'. This led to his song 'Miami' being included in the sound track for the movie 2 Fast 2 Furious in 2003. Since then, K'Jon has collaborated with a host of super stars, such as Ginuwine, Ludacris, T-Pain and Ne-Yo, as well as producers Cool & Dre.
Up till now, K'Jon has released a total of four albums, namely 'This is Me' in 2006, which was followed by 'Ballroom Explosion' in 2007 and 'I Get Around' in 2009. It appears that 'Oxygen', his fourth album, is not due until fall, but one of the tracks of this album, 'Good Morning', is already out there on the air as a single. In addition, he is already working on yet another musical project, as well as getting ready to star in a movie. 'Dancing Shoes' is a film based on a screenplay by Darren Brown and K'Jon, who is also responsible for the soundtrack. Other famous names featured will be Seven the General, Mistee Merrit, Dez Cortez and Tyrone Bradley, among others.
