Very true! I recommend the original 1978 "Halloween." this is my absolute favorite movie of all time! Also, if you plan on doing a longer movie night, then you should definitely check out "Halloween 2," which is a continuation of the first halloween. In my opinion, completely skip halloween 3, because it is STUPID. Not even about anything in the series. Halloween 4&5 are okay, but the 6th is eh, its okay i guess. H20, the 7th film in the series is a 20 years later from the original cast of the 1st and 2nd(one of my faves). The 8th film is a gory mess, don't waste your time. Also, maybe watch the classic "Friday the 13" series, or "nightmare on elm street" series, they are pretty good too! :)

Try the haunting. The original. Watch in the dark. Or The legend of hell house, a good English film. That'll knock your socks off! Or try the spiral staircase. Again the original. They all bring something for the viewer to see and have great atmosphere but that beats all. Don't be put off by the age of these classics. They deliver. Alternatively, watch the mist or the ring. They're sure to please.

The scariest movie of all time was The Exorcist (1973), the un-cut version.
The second was The Howling (1981)
More good movies, The Entity (1981) and Jaws (1975) and Hellraiser (1987)
Recent films. You should watch Rob Zombies "Halloween". It truly rules the screen. And The Devils Rejects (2005), my favorite gory movie.
Great family shows (horror) are, From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) and The Bride Of Chucky (1998)
