I thought that it had been evolving for several years into pop and the old time rock as those of us who are old enough to live in that era remember it. It is still about cars, wives, and bad love
love choices but the biggest evolving has been in the music and bands of country music.

We don't have as many good singers as we used to anymore which is why they are now hunting for fresh singing talents for the next generation

Music evolves according to the influences on the musicians. Many people don't realize that so-called classic melodies influenced many of the pop music artists of our time (The Beatles being a prime example) and the current popular music has derived much of it's syncopation/beat from ancient primitive cultural music.

I'll tell you what I think.  All music is starting to sound alike to me.  I can't tell one female country artist from another. Everyone thinks they can sing.  The rock music( to me anyway) stinks. It's ultra loud woman screeching can't understand the lyrics except "Baby Baby." All the white singers sound like blacks, and the blacks sound like howling wolves.  Now this is just my opinion.  I'm a huge ABBA fan I have everyone of their selections. Also I'm a child of the fifties The DOO WOP generation.

The term "POP" is short for "POPular," and country music has always been POPular with its fans.
