Led Zeppelin one of the first British rock music bands who popularized hard rock and heavy metal genres of music were formed in London in 1968. The band comprised of Jimmy Page as the guitarist, Robert Plant as the lead vocalist and harmonica player, John Bonham as the drummer, and John Paul Jones as the bass guitarist, keyboardist and mandolin player.

The band is one of the most consistently popular ones and even after disbanding in 1980 due to the death of Bonham, has sold more than 300 million albums worldwide to date. The band was especially noted for their innovative style of music incorporating musical genres as diverse as reggae, soul, funk, jazz, classical, folk, pop, jazz, Arabic and Latin; the band went on to achieve iconic status with as many as eight of their albums going on to top the charts both in the UK and the US.

Some of their notable albums are Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II, Led Zeppelin III, Led Zeppelin IV, Houses of the Holy, Physical Graffiti, Presence, The Song Remains the Same and In Through the Out Door. The band received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005; a live album of the band 'How the West was Won' was also released in 2003 which topped the charts in the US proof of their continuous popularity to date.
