A bad influence on who and what?  It all depends on your viewing choices.  There are certainly shows I don't want my children subjected to, so I don't let them watch. There also many educational shows on history, the animal kingdom, science, to name a few.

Consider this. General Motors, General Mills, & The General (An insurance company) all spend hundreds of millions of dollars on TV ads to influence us in what we buy. They know more than we will ever know about how to influence people. Let us know what you think, Sadini.

Proper parenting makes all of the difference.
With a good foundation, kids can watch the most obscene and vulgar programs and come out alright, without proper foundations, Jersey Shore will seem a plausible avenue unto which one may pursue.
